Specify search filters

You can limit the results of the repository search by specifying additional static or dynamic filters. Dynamic filters enable you to change the filter when using the dashboard.

Procedure. Procedure

  1. Click the Repository search operator. The configuration panel opens.

  2. Under FILTER CRITERIA in the configuration panel, click New/Add Add filter. The Add filter panel opens and lists all attributes and relations that correspond to the selected search options and are allowed by the method filter used.

  3. Click the item you want to use for filtering the search result. The attribute is added as a search criterion to the search options. Depending on the attribute type, you have additional options to specify the search in more detail.

  4. Click the More options icon next to a filter criterion and select an option from the drop-down menu: is, is not, specified, or not specified. Depending on the option selected, you have further options, such as specifying a numeric value for an attribute or selecting a model type. The specified filter values are static and cannot be changed during runtime.

  5. To specify dynamic filters that retrieve the filter values during runtime, click Runtime filters in the configuration panel.

  6. Click the Add icon in the corresponding field of a filter criterion and select an input type from the drop-down menu. If you want to use dynamic values for a specific filter criterion, you must first add the criterion to the Search options panel.

    You can select an existing stream from the drop-down menu for input. Or if you want to use user input, you must first add user input to the data feed. The user input type depends on the type of attribute you want to filter. The added user input is available in the drop-down menu.

    The maximum permitted number of filter values is 1000. If there are more filter values, a warning is displayed in the widget prompting you to reduce the number of filter values.

You specified filters for the repository search.

To remove filter criteria, click Delete Remove property behind the property name.

Value attributes as filter criteria

Value attributes can hold a set of different values that you can select as filter values.

The Status attribute can have the values In process, Complete, Released, or To be revised.

To filter the Status dynamically, the data source operator provides a key column in the data feed result. You can use this key column Status (Key) to filter ARIS searches in other widgets by adding such keys to a user input. Use a key column for the ARIS search to improve the performance of your dashboards through reduction of the data volume during database queries.
