Use shared caching

Use shared caching for data sources stored in ARIS Document Storage (ADS). Shared caching optimizes the performance when multiple users are accessing the same data source. When you select a document as the data source, such as an XML file, and the file is deployed in ADS, shared caching is enabled by default.

You can disable shared caching. However, in this case, you must specify HTTP basic authentication to access the source file.

For a user to view or edit the dashboard, you must grant them the required permissions. You must grant corresponding access privileges to the dashboard and the document in the ADS on which the dashboard is based.

Note that dashboard users without document access privileges might be able to see the cached data.

Procedure. Procedure

  1. Insert a data source operator for which you can specify a URL to the data source file, such as an XML or XLS data source operator.

  2. Specify a URL to the data source file that is stored in the ARIS Document Storage (ADS).

  3. Click Settings. The Settings dialog opens.

  4. Disable Shared caching if you do not want to use the option. This enables the HTTP basic authentication options. Shared caching is enabled by default.

    Note that disabling shared caching may affect performance when accessing the data source file.

  5. Specify the user name and the corresponding password in the HTTP basic authentication options to have access to the source file.

  6. Enable Shared cashing again to disable the HTTP basic authentication. However, your specified credentials remain stored.
