Create model variant
As a variant owner, you create a variant of a model in order to adapt a standard process to specific circumstances, for example to reflect country-specific requirements. The original model then becomes the master. Creating the variant also triggers the initial roll-out of the master model.
Prerequisites
The master model is created in a versionable database.
At least one version of the master model exists.
You have the Variant management privilege.
Click
Application launcher > 
Models and objects.Select the database group that contains the master model of which you want to create a model variant.
Enable the master model and click
Variants > Create variant. The Select version dialog opens.Enable the model version of which you want to create the variant.
To include descriptive assignments such as a model of type Function allocation diagram (FAD), enable Include descriptive assignments.
Under Refined assignment, select how refined assignments should be considered:
No refinement: Refined assignments are not included.
Include complete hierarchy: All refined assignments are included.
Include refinement levels: Enter the level up to which the refinement assignments are to be included.
Click OK. The Select group to save variants dialog opens.
Select the group in which you want to save the variant.
Click OK.
The model variant is created. You are automatically set as the person responsible for the model (
Details > Properties > Person responsible). This ensures that you receive e-mail notifications if a roll-out process of a new master model is triggered for your model variant.
Tip
You can also create a variant under Variants in the Details bar.
